Tavs should have left AXA with at least a share of the spoils but a poor lapse of concentration three minutes from time meant they travelled home empty handed. The visitors played into a strong wind in the first period and made a great start going ahead after six minutes. A free kick was won thirty yards out and Tom Hanley's kick was played into the near post area with Jay Redbond heading home with a superb diving header. AXA were a decent outfit lively and dangerous but found the Tavs back three off Roberts, Burridge and Thornton on top off their game and whilst the home team were always dangerous they could forge no clear cut opportunities. Tavs had the best other chance when Matt Spring intercepted and tried to lob keeper Rob Natielny but the effort cleared the crossbar.

The Nailsworth side though made a sluggish start to the second period and paid the price five minutes into the half when their Achilles heel came back when Steve Watts was lost at a corner and headed powerfully home. Tavs were rocked and the home side tried to press home the advantage but the closest they came was when the impressive Jason Reynolds found space in the box but his attempted lob was saved by Duane Portlock. Tavs steadied themselves and came back strongly in the middle off the half and should have gone back in front but Natielny saved superbly from a close range Redbond effort. Natielny then made another decent save at his near post from Redbond but the best option would have been to play in the unmarked Mark Harsant. With the game switching from end to end AXA won it in the 87th minute, Watts and Roberts were involved in an altercation and Tavs lost concentration presumably waiting for a refs whistle but AXA played on and when the cross came in Portlock could not get a good hand on it leaving the unmarked Andy Sledge to head into an empty net.
