Tavs gained their first league win with a deserved victory at newly promoted Kingswood. The visitors had a chance in the second minute when Tom Stubbs played in Tom Hanley but his effort was well saved by Fox. It was Kingswood though who looked the more dangerous early on and on eight minutes went in front when the ball was played to Mike Shaw who looked to be offside but no flag came and Shaw coolly lobbed the ball over Duane Portlock's head into the back of the net. Portlock then came to Tavs rescue superbly saving from Barrie Dibden as Kingswood looked to increase their lead. Tavs though began to threaten and on 24 minutes drew level when the impressive Tom Stubbs fired in a shot with Jay Redbond reacting sharply to divert the ball beyond Fox. Redbond broke beyond the Kingswood rearguard again firing in a good effort which Fox saved well at the expense of a corner. Fox could do nothing though in the 35th minute when Chris Preece fired superbly into his bottom corner from 22 yards.

Redbond had another good chance ten minutes into the second period but curled his effort wide of the goal. Stubbs then had a great chance to extend the lead but fired weakly into Fox's arms. On sixty minutes, Tavs Mike Thornton was dismissed for a harsh second yellow but Tavs regrouped superbly and with the exception of one scare when the home side missed a sitter from inside the six yard box, were able to play with good discipline and see the game out to gain three much needed points.
