TAVS CRUISE THROUGH THE FIRST ROUND OF THE COUNTY CUP

Saturday’s fixture was the 1st round of the Gloucestershire County Cup which found Tavs drawn against high flyers Huntley from the Gloucester Northern Premier League.

Tavs started the game sharp and hungry to continue their unbeaten run and it only took 20minutes before a some beautiful passing on the left wing found Brooke Jenner in enough space to deliver a Beckhamish ball to the back post for Dean Neale to convert.

5 minutes Tavs were unlucky to double their lead after Harley Hudds strike was ruled as offside. Against the run of play Huntley found themselves with a corner, Tavs were unlucky to clear their lines and the ball landed at the feet of the Huntley striker who was able to scuff the ball into the back of the net. The scores weren’t level for long as Harry Bennett fizzed a ball across the penalty box to meet the defenders face which deflected the ball into the net.

2-1 Halftime

The Second half saw Tavs enjoy even more of the possession as Huntley looked too the more physical side of their game and try and intimidate a youthful Tavs team. 10 minutes in Dean Neale returned the favour for Brooke Jenner as Neale picked the ball up 40 yards out and out muscled and outpaced four defenders before calmly rolling the ball back across the 6 yard box for Jenner to tap the ball home. Tavs controlled the ball comfortably until the final whistle dictating play and frustrating Huntley until the final whistle.
