The Wizzard Strikes Twice As Tavs Triumph Over Renegades


Tavs welcomed Renegades for Saturdays fixture at the Owen Harris Memorial Ground, Having not won in the league since the 2nd of October after a busy schedule in all cup competitions We’re faced with a in form Renegades who had lost one in their last 10 games.



Tavs started the game well and endured a lengthy spell dominating possession with some beautiful pass and move football it wasn’t to long before chances started to fall Tavs way with Mazza and Neale going closest.


The 26th minute saw Tavs awarded a corner which was whipped in by Steve Brooke’s which fell behind Shaun Helbrow who managed to back heel the ball into the net.


Tavs were cruising until disaster struck in the 35th minute when Tavs stalwart Mike Thornton and his Center half partner of the day Myles Marklove both pulled up with hamstring injuries. A double substitution caught Tavs off guard as they conceded a goal shortly after.

Tavs responded to Harsant’s halftime team talk and quickly and settled quickly into their new positions, Tavs started asking questions of the Renegades defence who could not handle the pace of Tavs probing attacks Shaun Helbrow was denied a second scoring opportunity when he was brought down on the edge of the box in Wizard territory.



Louis Wilkins placed the ball on the ground with nothing on his mind but the goal as he struck the ball hard and low into the bottom corner past the wall leaving the goalkeeper motionless.


The Wizard struck again soon after as Jonty O’Leary skipped past his defender leaving him with no other decision but to bring him down in a similar position outside of the box, This time Louis “Wizard” Wilkins opted for the top corner leaving the goalkeeper floundering on his goal line.



Si Lloyd-Jones finished the game off when Tavs fouled the opposing fullback just outside of the penalty box only for the Goalkeeper to kick his free kick right at him, despite claims of handball Lloyd-Jones kept his nerve and played to the whistle placing the ball in the empty goal from range.
